Last Ragamuffin of 2018

My last painting of 2018 was a ragamuffin comissioned by a friend to send as a gift. In the past, a couple of my ragamuffins have been critiqued as resembling the Les Mis child, and she asked that I create something with that feel to it. Thus, "Azra" was born.  Her name means pure. Purity and innocence are typical themes in my artwork. Sometimes there is also an air of sadness. Maybe because my heart is drawn to the children of this world who do not experience the carefree childhood that every human deserves. War. Poverty. Abuse. Neglect. How I wish the children of the world were not touched by these things.

I think these faces also depict the hope and healing, joy and renewing that children bring to the world. Each ragamuffin is perfectly imperfect. Each one is my favorite. Each one is love. I cannot wait to meet all of the ragamuffins of 2019!

Kind of funny... Most of my business cards are black and white. The core of this creative business is my black and white graphite illustrations, so... of course... I decided on a colored border. LOL
